Exile Talks Movie Night: Kashmir

feat. the movie “Kus Kari Gongul – A Song for the Vanishing Fields” by Sajad Rasool

This edition of Exile Talks begins with selected excerpts from Kus Kari Kongul – A Song for the Vanishing Fields (2025) , a documentary by Kashmiri journalist and filmmaker Sajad Rasool that explores the transformation of land, livelihoods, and power in contemporary Kashmir.

Following the screening, we will be joined by two filmmakers from Kashmir for a conversation on press freedom and artistic expression in India, with a particular focus on Kashmir. Together, we will discuss the political realities of reporting and filmmaking under increasing pressure, the role of Germany and Europe in their relationship with India, and the particular challenges faced by female filmmakers. The event offers a unique opportunity to explore Kashmir through the perspectives of those documenting its realities from within.

More details on speakers and moderator will follow soon.
